Letters: Turn the page on all-male sport

Jane Martinson has every reason to assert that the media should take responsibility for raising the profile of the sport of women (Why is the BBC ignoring the athletes?, November 30 G2). In a recent sports section of a Sunday newspaper, I found no mention of the woman who is not an article with an American skier who had accompanied another skier in his prom. If the rest of our female sports taken Saturday off?
As director of a girls' school, I decided that the girls saw sport as a fundamental part of their lives. Studies have shown that girls who play sports have better body image than non-sport and teaches young people to understand and use your body correctly. I hope it teaches them, despite media coverage to the contrary, that the body is fine decoration is a missed opportunity. More women's sports models to reinforce these messages, and balanced sports media can provide.

. Perhaps Jane Martinson could start close to home and a mirror to the editor of The Guardian sports. Apart from the spread that contains an interview with Sarah Stevenson and two articles lamenting the lack of women on the list of BBC Sports Personality of the Year, the rest of the sports section of Wednesday contains no sport for women. Nor, indeed, made on sections of Monday or Tuesday. What percentage of your readers are women, and why the assumption that only want to read about sports for men?

. A half-page photograph on the front page of the sports section Wednesday and within two pages lamenting the lack of female candidates for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year and the lack of coverage sports for women. It is even mentioned this injustice Shortcuts in G2. But there is no room for a report this week by the victory of women in England rugby union team of New Zealand. It's your fault.

. I worked on what women should replace men in the top 10 (an alternative list, November 30). What about Charlotte Edwards instead of Alastair Cook (world No 1 hitter) or Keri-Anne Payne of Mo Farah, who has just won a gold and silver at the World Championships in Athletics? Sarah Stevenson Amir Khan, the boxer world champion, Chrissie Wellington and Andrew Strauss, captain of the football team the most successful of England from the time of Peter May? Then I gave up. 2011 has undoubtedly been the best year for British sport internationally for a very long time. Talent, but the above are 10 alternatives, can not come to fame and success of the BBC list.

. One of the sensitive of all student elections is the presence of Ron on the ballot - Reopening of applications. This means that we do not like all of the above, please find better candidates. We could all argue that the BBC put Ron as one of the options to vote for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year? I am surprised that no one woman on the list, when your article shows how, with many women who have champions
