Liverpool will elect a city mayor on 3 May

Merseyside

becomes the first city outside London really great to make the jump, with a variety of putative candidates among its illustrious son and daughters

Macca? Our Cilla? Ken Dodd, even? You never know, but probably not.

like the mayor of the first major city outside London will be the current Liverpool Labour leader Joe Anderson.

He played a game of skill on the local government with the coalition in government and which has now resulted in an overwhelming majority to avoid entering the town hall of the referendum and go to a citizen chosen by Scouser first time on May 3

a special meeting of City Council overwhelmingly approved the motion by 62 votes for, three against (Green John Coyne and Sarah Jennings and Jan Clein Liberal Democratic) and Liberal Democrat 12 abstentions. At the request of the election must now be published before March 27 and nominations close on April 4.

notice the small, it would be great if some of the great port city known children had a crack, not necessarily because they can not win, but the greatest place in Liverpool in the way all cities in the region of England deserve and need. If you know one of them, please do a little gentle pressure. Meanwhile, the train of Anderson was on a roll.

One of his earliest public supporters is Frank McKenna, chairman of Liverpool city center in the company, which pushed the idea and elected mayor in 2004 and campaigned for a referendum. The big shot of the previous work, Lancashire County Council said:

This result sets a national precedent is real and ideal for new Liverpool, because it means that we will be ahead of the game now in terms of making the most of this fantastic opportunity.

is quite clear that Liverpool's business community wants an elected mayor. A large scale survey conducted last week showed that over 70% of people were in favor of the decision and the somewhat controversial by Anderson to go through a public referendum on the issue means that we will start seeing the impact faster than in other cities.

I think Joe Anderson is the man for the job, and is able to stimulate the growth we saw in the back of the financing of 130 million pounds that comes in the wake of this decision.

Liverpool is now in a strong position to offer a range of vital development programs, and additional private investment will make a big difference in the economic area.

is great to see Liverpool as the first city in Britain to seize the opportunity. This agreement will be a big boost to the position of this great city - both in Britain and on the world stage. Liverpool have the opportunity to attract private investment, create jobs and build a prosperous future. This is hopefully the first of many such agreements with our cities.
